Charlie is, shall we say, less than enthusiastic about my choice of forks. I'm thinking about a '00 X Fly, but the cost and the weight are both bummers. The stiffee up front makes rough trails rough, but it only weighs 750 grams. So far, I haven't been on a real ride, just commuting and riding with my kids, so I don't really miss the cush. yet.

It weighs just over 20 lbs. I had to have the Phil's, 'cause they're super sexy, and bullet-proof, but in Brent's words, they're "portly", 620 grams for the pair. I was also intending on using Paul's components (hubs and brakes), but I decided the XT V-Brakes would be more reliable.

The wheels are laced with WheelSmith double-butted spokes, and the rear is three-cross, and asymmetrical, in case you want to flip-flop. The nipples are brass, for reliability, and so it'll be harder for me to strip them.

Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures before I rode it around in the rain and the mud. I made a weak attempt at cleaning it before I took these, and some parts were still wet in the pics.
